Meet Per Øivind!
Per Øivind is a 25-year-old man diagnosed with cerebral palsy, GMFCS II. He likes to be as physically active as possible, and is able to walk with support. He manage most daily activities despite having limited movement in some areas, particularly his right elbow and right knee, together with significant visual impairment.
As he’s aged, Per Øivind has experienced a steady deterioration in his gross motor skills. His walking ability gradually worsened over time, requiring greater support when he walked than before. Increased contractures lead to skeletal curvature in his hips and knees, along with high levels of muscular spasticity.
The higher levels of impairment of his various motor functions meant he was becoming more and more sedentary in his daily life, reducing the physical activities he enjoys so much.
At this point, the decision was taking to undergo hip surgery in 2015, and in the months leading up to and following the surgery, the physiotherapist recommended that Per Øivind use the Innowalk as an adjunct to enhance the benefits he would receive from the surgery. To start, he began by using the Innowalk for 20-30 minutes once a day and today he has progressed to training with it for an hour twice daily.

Per Øivind has developed improved stamina as well as increasing the level of tension in the muscles in his hips and knees, leading to a larger stride length. These improvements must be understood in the context of his hip operation, but the Innowalk has undoubtedly had a strong impact in maintaining and reducing incorrect movement patterns.
